MIDTERM ELECTION ENGAGEMENT IS CRUCIAL

Many communities in Alabama, including African-American and Hispanic, and our young professionals and millennials are underrepresented in the State Legislature and other statewide elected offices.

As a result, Alabama’s laws and policies are often disproportionately punitive or seemingly ambivalent about meeting the unique needs and challenges of these communities.

Leading up to the 2018 Midterm Election, Put Alabama First launched This Is For Us — an issue-based mobilization campaign — to encourage voters to wield their collective power at the polls and take time to understand where candidates and office-hopefuls stand on issues of importance in their communities.

  • Criminal Justice Reform | Ending mass incarceration and overcriminalization

  • Good-Paying Jobs | Securing jobs that provide good, living wages for working Alabama families

  • Health Care Expansion | Providing access to quality, affordable health care for all Alabamians

  • Environmental Justice | Keeping vulnerable communities safe from toxic waste and pollution

  • Quality Education | Ensuring students have equal access to quality public education
